Student Writing

We had a writing assessment in our district last week. All 8th graders had to write about a problem in the U.S. and how to fix it. The following are actual things written by my students. In some cases the spelling is exactly how they wrote. I am so proud.

1. "In Iraq the Shits are always going to be full of anger and hate towards they Sunnies. They are mad at the Sunnies. Probly because the Sunnies are happier people."

2. "We should drop an atomic bomb on Iraq and go back to our happy little lives."

3. "The US is a big polluted bubble."

4. "The main problem that our country is suffering from is the money."

5. "We learned enuff at scool and i shoud'nt have to go hear."

6. "We can improve drug use to make the US stronger."

7. "You can have a hard time breathing if you don't have a pulse."

There were SO MANY more but these were the ones I wrote down while grading. Kids are so funny- they mostly repeat the things their mama's tell them but try to put thier own spin on things.
