I got it!

I did it! I got a job in Spokane; the district where there are 55 open jobs and over 2000 applicants! Less than 4% chance of getting hired- and I got the first one I interviewed for! YEAH me! (yes, I know I ended a sentence with a preposition- but my blog is not a formal paper and I am okay with it reading the way it does.)

I am the new 10th grade English teacher at North Central High School. I've been told that I will have 5 periods of straight 10th grade English and 2 periods of A.P./Honors English. But things always change right before school starts, so we'll see.

The big hurdle now is trying to get my Washington State certification. Fingerprinting alone will take 6-8 weeks. Then there are the tests...yup...gotta take more PRAXIS tests!! Because I have 3 years exp. I get a year to take them, but just knowing I have to try and pass MATH TESTS again is killing me! I am also unsure if my endorsements will allow me to teach at a high school in WA. Things change from state to state.

I just hope that this is the end of my 2 year pattern. 2 years teaching in CA, 2 years teaching in OR...I just want a routine and a permanent place to call home.

THANK YOU to all my sweet family and friends who supported and encouraged me in my job hunt- especially my mama!
