Cirque Du Soleil: Varekai

Mr. P and I went to Cirque Du Soleil: Varekai on Saturday night. We had a lovely evening together, we ate yummy Thai food and held hands at the show. Our sweet friend Erik got us tickets as a (very generous) wedding gift and they were in the 3rd row! It was an awesome show- but I had no idea what the story was until I found it online today. So, here's the background story for the show, if you're planning to see it.

Deep within a forest, at the summit of a volcano, exists an extraordinary world - a world where something else is possible. A world called Varekai.

From the sky falls a solitary young man, and the story of Varekai begins. Parachuted into the shadows of a magical forest, a kaleidoscopic world populated by fantastical creatures, this young man sets off on an adventure both absurd and extraordinary.

This production pays tribute to the nomadic soul, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition, and to the infinite passion of those whose quest takes them along the path that leads to Varekai.
